Hotels assessed the way a general manager would audit them.
First-hand stays, written up in full. Every property is measured against the same published framework, and carries a separate Pillow Score for the one thing most reviews skip: how well you actually slept.

How we rate
The framework
Every stay is scored out of five against the same six criteria, so properties can be compared like for like.
- Room, space, condition, bedding, bathroom, finish
- Service, arrival, recognition, recovery, warmth
- Food & beverage, breakfast, outlets, in-room
- Facilities, pools, spa, kids provision, public areas
- Location, access, surroundings, transport
- Value, what was delivered against what was charged
The Pillow Score
Reported separately from the overall rating, and never averaged into it. It rates one thing only: bed, bedding, pillows, blackout and quiet, the components of an actual night's sleep.
A property can score well overall and still sleep badly. Separating the two is the point of this publication.
Not assessed
Where something wasn't experienced first-hand, it is marked not assessed rather than guessed. An unscored criterion never counts against a property.
Independence
Every stay on this site was booked and paid for at standard rates, or paid for by an employer where noted. No property has been given copy approval, and no review has been solicited, sponsored or compensated.
No affiliate links. No advertising. No commission on any booking.
Right of reply
Any property reviewed here may respond. Corrections of fact are made promptly and noted; a management response can be published alongside the review on request.
